While many aspects of the legend seem too fantastical to believe, there have been hundreds of sightings of the Jersey Devil reported over the years. Is it possible that a rare, undiscovered species has taken up residence in South Jersey? Are all of the sightings hoaxes, or are people simply mistaking some other kind of animal for a demon? Or, as Harry Leeds, a former mayor and direct descendant of Mother Leeds claims, does a devil stalk the Pine barrens to this day?

As humans, we’re wired to find patterns, so are all of the repeating numbers we see in nature and music simply a coincidence? Can we safely say that we’re creating patterns where there are none? Or, as mystics and philosophers have long believed, are mathematics, geometry and sound actually the key to the universe? Join us as we take a closer look at the mystery of Sacred and Sonic Geometry.

Episode 37: Door to Hell
Join us as we discuss a molten cavity in Turkmenistan, nicknamed by locals “The Door to Hell,” or “The Gates of Hell.” As sinister as its burning flames sounds, they’re just the half of it. Located in the Karakum Desert, the pit, which has been on fire for almost 50 years, attracts hundreds of tourists each year. It also reportedly attracts nearby desert wildlife. The locals claim that from time to time, spiders are seen plunging into the pit by the thousands, lured to their deaths by the flickering flames.

Bonus Episode 34: Homicidal Sleepwalkers (Straight Up Strange Crossover)
In celebration of Halloween, and with the help of two of my sister podcasts from Straight Up Strange Productions, you’re in store for a unique show tonight. This episode ties together each of our three, very different podcasts and styles to cover one overlapping, and relatively dark topic: the phenomenon of crimes committed while sleepwalking (and not just any crimes, but heinous, sometimes fatal ones.) First up is a fictionalized storytelling by Jennifer from Haunted Happenstance, then followed by some historical true crime facts by yours truly. This is then followed by another factual spin from the sleep/dream and science side from Meranda of All Things Dreams. Episode 33: The Footless Ghost of Benton Falls
One spring night in a second-floor bedroom of an old creaky house in Benton, Maine, Alan Linnell lay terrified as he felt a presence sit on his bed. He then felt something cold touch his arm. That was just one of dozens of strange events the Linnell family experienced over 13 years beginning in 1964, a year after the family bought the home. The incredible stories might have been dismissed if not for a grisly discovery made in the walls of the home. Join us for another mini-episode as part of our 13 Nights of Halloween, where we discuss the haunting of the “Footless Ghost.”
